The Lettuce of the Adversary

Wednesday Mar 5, 2025 This email is so late haha. But for good reason because weve been so busy! ! A lot of super cool stuff has happened this week! ( well last week haha ) I got to use sign language for a lesson! Ive been wanting to be able to do that for sooooo long. The ladys name is trudy, and shes hilarious. Another cool thing is that we are finally going to baptise someone! Well 3 people actually. There is this cute part member family and their 11 year old daughter, echo, has been wanting to get baptised foreverrrr but her parents never let her. But theyve all started coming back to church and now echo and her 2 little brothers are going to get baptised!! Weve been hitting the jackpot on missionary work lately which is good because we really hit a rut earlier this week. Its been so exiting and so fulfilling im loving it! Google photos ➡️https://photos.app.goo.gl/xjfYB9Y6ZcpAPPLK7 Recap ⬇️ Day 1 👏 - brad and i went to old navy and got matching sweaters. I also got pants because i didnt like the ones i brought lol -we went to dairy queen because someone in our ward owns it and its free for missionaries! It took like 3 tries to get to the right one but we did it eventually -we went with our stl's to get their oil changed. We thought they wouldnt like that we were listening to noah kahan, so we paused it, but once they saw his name on the screen they got so exited so we ended up screaming to stick season all the way back to the church. -one of our members fed us lamb and didnt tell us what it was till after. It was fire tho 😋 Day 2 👏 -we wore our matching sweaters today and it was so fun. We made a cutie lil fit check video -everybody remember terryl? This girl is actually killing me. We had a lesson with her on the plan of salvation. We killedddd that lesson. It was the best lesson brad and i have done so far it was so good. But our girl terryl didnt understand any of it. Like nothing. Every question we asked her, she linked it back to the 10 commandments and how important they are. Which yeah theyre super important, but when were asking her to tell us who joseph smith is and shes like " yeah i love that guy and the 10 commandents are really important too" it is very frustrating haha. - terryl really took it out of us so we kept the rest of the day pretty chill. We low key stole toilet paper from the church tho bc we ran out and were so broke. So we shoved it into brads bag and left. Day 3👏 -during personal study something pretty cool happened! I prayed to find peace with terryl, and to be able to stay obedient even after my mission. I found 2 confrence talks that answered my prayer perfectly! "Lasting discipleship" and "are you still willing?". Are you still willing is one of the best talks ive ever read. Go read it rnrn -we had a lesson with an inactive member named jay, and we taught him the same lesson we taught terryl, but he actually understood it and had comments and questions so it was soooo much better! We also convinced him to get a priesthood blessing. Him agreeing felt really cool bc he literally hasnt been to church in 20 years. The influence you can have as a missionary is wild.🤍 -we went to see darlene. Our 93 year old friend. Shes actually wild holy. We brought the elders with us because she requested them. This girl has been trying to send us home with all of her belongings everytime were at her house. She gives us a house tour everytime and just hands us stuff she wants us to take. I did find this tiny radio tho and i was flipping through the stations and one of them was playing pink pony club by chappel roan. I probs shouldn't have been listening to that in an old ladys house, on my mission non the less, but did i listen to the whole thing? Yes. Yes i did. And i was living for it.🎀 -I USED ASLLL IN A LESSON. This is something that ive been waiting for, for a long time. My first prompting to learn asl came when i was 16. Then i met my friend kenadi and he really inspired me to dive in and learn it, then i thought i was gonna go on an asl mission but that didnt happen. But ive realised that i dont have to go asl speaking to be able to use sign language. There are deaf people everywhere, you just gotta find them haha. Oh also there was a sister who knew asl who went home the transfer that i came in. So if i didnt know asl, trudy wouldnt have been able to have the access she needed to be able to continue taking lessons. Believe me i am not fluent, but I think there were multiple reasons i got that promting when i was 16, and its super cool to be able to see it come to fruition 3 years later. Gods timing really is everything. Anyways trudy is amazing and i love her. Were most likely going to be teaching her weekly in preparation for her baptism! Im sooo grateful that im going to be able to keep doing this! - we got to ride mules! ( with permission from pres ofc ). It was so fun. 🐎 Day 4 👏 -we went with the elders to give jay a blessing -we decided we are going to make a missionary version of nonstop by drake. So be ready for that its gonna be fire. 🔥 -so basically every missionary has to report what they do for every person they interact with. We were looking through our list of people we havent gotten to talk to yet, and the last contact was put in by an elder that is already home. It says "william was clearly enjoying some lettuce of the adversary, he said now isnt a good time, we agreed". And thay was actually the funniest thing ever. I will now refer to weed as that. Day 5 👏 -guys we got growled at 😭. We knocked on this inactive members door and he deepened his voice, and made it all growly, and said "GO AWAY 😤😡" he sounded like a demon and it freaked us out so we took a break from contacting and went to get icecream -its been sooo warm the last couole days. We sre living for this 65 degree weather - we vlogged while sitting in front of a ladys house. Brad turned unto kim kardashian and i laugh cried for a hot min -our car sensor (tiwi) beeps when we speed, so we decided to count how many beeps we get in one day. So far the record is 8 🚗 -we went and saw our friend lizzy ( shes an adult baby 👶) and while we were standing on her lawn we looked a couple houses down and saw a cop/ a couple staring and pointing at us. They said " those lds people have been all over the place lately". Yeah bro we have whatcha gonna do abt it. -okok miracle time!! There is a family in our ward and the parents have been inactive for 23 years. Their daughter Echo, whos 11, has been coming to church with her grandma. And shes been wanting to get baptised forever. Her parents ended up getting into a fight with their pastor, and found themselves defending the lds church, so the realised " wait, if we feel so strongly about the lds church why arent we going there?" So now their family is working to get sealed in the temple, and they finally gave Echo permission to get baptised!!! So we have been teaching echo the lessons along with her parents and they are loving it!! Echo has the strongest testimony ive ever seen an 11 year old have. She has the sweetest spirit, and im so glad i get to be a small part of her journey! -guys theres an elder in this mission who is 27.... ill just let that sink in Day 6 👏 -we played volleyball!! I got a really good hit and it felt so good to actually play haha. - we went and saw darlene again and she tried to give brad a big bag of lingerie! Very exiting. Obviously she politely declined. We laughed about it for a long time after - we took a cute girl in our ward on splits! -we did scripture study with the elders, and a girl named lilliah. We read 2 nephi 9. Its a reallyyyy good chapter. Go read it!!! -we taught echo and her parents again! The spirit is always so strong when were with them. You can see the light has come back into them since theyve made the choice to come back! And echo has basically started teaching us at this point. She could totally get baptised rn if that was allowed 😂 -went to dinner with the stl's at cafe rio! -we broke into the elders apartment ( dw they werent home ) and we stole elder wrights guitar so we could practice a song were gonna sing. -elder wright called brad an oompa loompa, felt bad, then wrote her an apology song. It was the funniest thing ever. Day 7 👏 -sunday!! -testimony meeting was sooo good. The spirit in this ward is crazy. -we went and did studies by the river. The elders joined us for a bit. It was really fun -we had a mission wide zoom call so me and brad, then 3 other companionships went to the church and hopped on it together Ok that was a lot of stuff haha but this week has been crazy. Im sure theres a million things I'm forgetting but like brad says " its all recorded in heaven " so at least somebody remembers it lol. I love you all so much and i miss ya like crazy. Talk to you next week! -sister cashdollar :) 🤍
