Day 1 ๐
-pday!
- we helped the elders make tacos for everyone at the church ๐ฎ
-we had to go on a walmart adventure to find lighter fluid bc elder wright couldnt figure out how to start the bbq. Our shopping haul was hilarious. It was lighter fluid, peanut butter oreos, and tortilla chips. Life of a missionary dude
-we went and made matching pros bags at hobby lobby! They're the cutest things ever
Day 2 ๐
-We found out that terryl ( our friend on date ) has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. When we got the news we quickly made a plan to go over with the elders to give her a blessing. The blessing was the coolest experience ever. Even though the situation is so sad, the spirit was so strong. You could almost feel other people in the room with us. It was crazy. Afterward she asked us to share a message with her ( none of us had time to prepare one ) elder lawrence whipped a scripture our of nowhere and he had me read it. I could feel the spirit speaking through me as i testified afterward, and i could tell that the others were experiencing the same thing. I was really cool. But yeah if everyone could pray for terryl we would really appreciate it!❤️
-we went over to see our friend lizzy! We did those little perler bead things while we taught her the plan of salvation. She was definitely not paying attention because i looked over at her phone and she was scrolling her lesbian dating app. You gotta love montana lol.
-we went to see chuck! Chuck is an inactive member and a very stubborn guy. We decided to teach him about the priesthood, and i decided to share a quote from a specific confrence talk. Chuck thought that we always share the same lessons with everyone, but we got to tell him that we plan each lesson according to the needs of who we are teaching. He asked " how did you know that you needed to share that?" " thats exactly what i needed". We told him that the spirit told us we needed to, and he was very thankful. It was cool to see his heart soften through the power of the spirit, and the revalation we had received for him that morning!
Day 3 ๐
-we tried to fill up our tires with air because they have been low for like 2 weeks. We quickly realised we had no idea what we were doing and called the elders to help. It was low key embarrasing tho because the DL and the ZL's showed up ๐. But at least we know how to fill up our tires now lol
-we had our interviews with president. It was pretty painless since ive had like 0 problems on the mish so far ( i actually love being here sm )
-we filmed some fire facebook videos, so keep an eye out for those on the "come unto christ in montana" page ๐
-we discovered that 25 cent ice cream cones exist, so we went and got some with a ton of the sisters in our zone.
- we had a cool miracle. Weve been knocking on the door of who we thought was a deaf lady for weeks. Brad had a prompting we needed to knock it again. So we did, and no one answered. I wasnt shocked because theres usually a white truck sitting in front of the house. As we turned to leave, i saw that same white truck pull into the parking lot, and immediately knew thats why we were there. We ended up talking to the lady that lives in the house we had been knocking, and she said she wasnt super interested and she was hearing, which wasnt what we thought lol. So we asked her if she knew anyone deaf in the area, and she was able to tell us exactly where the actual deaf lady lives!! So if we hadnt gone when we did, we would still be knocking the wrong door. So hopefully well get in contact with the right person this week! ๐ค
-" if you mess with niki minaj you will be lactose intolerant" -brad
-we FINALLY got in contact with james! James is someone that brad and her last comp had on date before i got here, but he ghosted them for a really long time. We knocked on his door and he freaking answered we were so shocked. He told us thay somehow his phone was left in a semi that drove to the east coast...? I dont really know how true that is haha but we had a lesson with him and he said he wants to start meeting and possibly preparing for baptism again!
Day 4๐
-we had exchanges! So sister sutherland is my comp for the day, and i get to lead out the area๐ซก
-we went door knocking, and up to this point i havent had many succesful approaches bc i was scared but i decided to throw myself into it and it went really really well! And its def not as scary as i thought it was haha. We ended up meeting kevin! Hes a dawg. We asked if he wanted to come to church and he said yes! Then he accepted a book of mormon! It was so cool haha.
-we went and saw darlene because i love her and i wanted to introduce sutherland to her. (Shes 93) darlene was not in the mood today and low key kicked us out of her house and told us to stop coming over so often. Usually she lovesss when we come and gets so exited and gets sad when we dont come often. It was just a weird switch i dont really know whats happeing but its fine ๐
-we had a FIRE lesson with sandra! Shes an inactive member who weve gotten to come back to church super consistently! We talked about temples and the discussion was amazing and i could feel the spirit speaking through me the whole time. And i ended up whipping a scripture out from nowhere, like i hadnt planned it at all. That felt really cool! I feel like im getting to know the book of mormon a lotttt better! ๐ฅณ. She also told us a really cool story about how when her husband died, she was totally broke, and didnt know how she was going to live her life. She was angry with god, and her husband for leaving. One day she was ripping apart her husbands dresser. And she found envelopes taped to the bottom of each drawer, and each envelope had 5000 dollars in it. Her husband had been saving for a rainy day. And on sandras rainiest day, she found a miracle, and was able to pay rent and take care of her grandson.
-we always go and see this inactive part member family on thursdays, and their little girl stephanie lovesss when we tell her "jesus stories". So we were talking about praying and she said she had never prayed before, so i got to teach her how! And she begged us to talk to her mom about coming to church with us so we did and she said yes!
Day 5๐
-played pickle ball with our stl's
- back with brad! I love sutherland but i love my comp more
-we had some fire lessons while contacting even tho today was actually so slow haha
- got free ice creammm๐ฆ
-we talked to this cool lady named grayce! Shes a sculptor and an artist so we connected over that. Shes super cool so i guess we'll see if there is potential there.
- we went to the church and used the computers to show eachother our houses and places we love on google earth. It made me sad seeing my house haha
Day 6 ๐
- we had another lesson with james! He is super receptive to what were saying. Hes low key kinda creepy but in a funny way so were chillin
-we had another lesson with trudy, so i got to use asl again. I love getting to translate what everyone is saying, especially prayers. And trudy loves us and is eatinggg up what we have to say. She is probably going to get baptised soon and im so hype.
Day 7๐
-sunday!
- we brought stephanie to church with us! She hated sacrament meeting lol. She kept saying " i think im gonna die if i have to sit here any longer" yeah same girl ( jk i love church )
-we came to know some really sad news this morning. A family in our ward lost their son to suicide. And their entire family came to church because they knew that they could find their safe haven there. The entire ward rallied around them and gave them so much support it was amazing to see. Releif society became more of a testimony meeting/showing the mom how much love we have for her and her family. The spirit has been soooo strong every time ive come to this ward. It is the most tight knit ward ive ever experienced.
- the guy that passed away's name was Gary. He was a really really nice guy, even tho i had only met him a few times. Brad realised something really cool about him while we were sitting in releif society. Gary had given her, and her last comp a gift card to a grocery store they had never gone to. So a few weeks later they went and met a guy named dan! Ive talked about him before haha but im not gonna explain him now. Dan said he wanted to learn more about the gospel, so they started teaching him! And then when i got here, we had to pass him off because hes not in our area. We got the news on friday that dan is going to get baptised! And friday is the same day that gary killed himself. So if gary hadnt given them that gift card, dan wouldnt be getting baptised. Brad was going to tell him this story at church, but he wasnt there obviously. But im sure he knows the good he did now that hes up there. So if everyone can pray for the dodge family thay would be great! They really need it right now ❤️
- we had a transfer dinner ( at 2:15 ) with our zone! Nothing crazy happened but it was fun.
- we went and helped with mission prep for the kids in our ward. Its crazy to compare myself from before the mish to now, because i had no fear contributing during it. It actually made me exited to talk because i had so much to say, and i knew that my comments would be helpful. Feeling confident in myself is such a game changer haha. If youve ever thought about going on a mission, just go and do it. You will never regret it.
Ive seen so many miracles this week, and im being constantly reminded that heavenly father and jesus are right there with us, and they want to help us, you just have to ask them. You have such easy access to gods power, and if you use it, your life will improve so drastically. I know that god loves you, i know that families are forever, i know that there is life after death, i know the book of mormon is true and that joseph smith was a prophet, i know that the power of the priesthood is real, and i know that we can all receive personal revalation through the power of the holy ghost, but most importantly, i know this church is true. And i wish i could give everyone that knowledge. So if you dont know any of those things for yourself, go and find out! Its as easy as asking your dad a question, so go and ask your heavenly father if this church is true. I promise that he will tell you.
I love you all so much!
